More story seeds
Further to the task of trying to get Thousand Cats back on track, here's a new batch of story seeds, for those who enjoy such things:
  1. I turned the afternoon's events over and over in my mind
  2. Whose fault is it?
  3. With menace proud and insult loud
  4. If anyone shall disobey this law, whatever his state or condition, his life is forfeit
  5. clothed with an awful and unsuspected power
  6. I can't see it. He resumed his meal.
  7. Under the impossibility of forming an opinion, I jumped from one extreme to the other.
  8. this helps to deceive the student
  9. When last he sailed he left the bird behind
  10. These sons of the new world had adapted themselves admirably to the conditions of Europe.
  11. Secretly on winter morn
  12. With his lance Sir Eustace pointed

For anyone who's new, or just has forgotten how these things work since it's been a while, these are all excerpts from random text I've received in spam e-mails (which seems in most cases to have been drawn from old books), and the basic idea is to take one or more of these fragments of text and do something creative with them. Writing stories has been the most common approach, and it was what I'd originally had in mind when I started posting these, but we've also had poetry posted, and really, you can do pretty much anything you want, as long as it's something creative. Written, visual, musical, whatever. You can use the phrase directly, or just as loose inspiration, whatever works for you.

Of course, the fact that I've posted a new batch doesn't mean you can't do anything with the older ones - if anyone was tossing around an idea from one of those, don't worry, they're still fair game:

Also, don't forget that Thousand Cats is by no means limited to project ideas that I post - 50_ft_queenie posted an interesting idea a while back (I haven't come up with any story ideas for that one yet, though I found the discussion thread she linked to really fascinating -- basically the birth of a new urban legend), and any other ideas anyone wants to post, or just any random creative work anyone may have been doing that they'd like feedback on, is always welcome.
